While we have been closed for three months over the winter the team have still been coming in regularly to check on the Mill and the rest of the site. We we have used the time to do some annual maintenance to the Mill as well, getting her ready for the new season! And of course we are busy planning for an exciting 2019 – we already have a great programme of spring events in mind and will be looking forward to seeing everyone back on site when we re-open on 2nd March.
Our first event of the season is during British Science Week on the weekend of the 16th and 17th March when we will be conducting experiments and exploring the engineering behind the windmill and its operation.
We currently have a very small, but dedicated, team of one Mill Assistant volunteer and would love to grow the team! If you are interested in working at a beautiful and unique site and would like the chance to learn the traditional skills of a Miller in an entirely wind powered windmill then this is your opportunity! You’d be joining us at an exciting time as we get the Mill idling again on a regular basis and get the team trained up and the Mill prepared to start milling flour again. You would need to be available on Fridays for an hour or two training each day and have a reasonable level of physical fitness.
