DOG JOG TO BRING FEEL-GOOD FACTOR TO SOUTHAMPTON COMMON

Four-legged fun runners and their owners will bring the feel-good factor to Southampton Common on Sunday 29th September when they take part in Wessex Cancer Support’s Dog Jog to raise funds to support local people affected by cancer.

The event starts at 9am on 29 September with a warm-up led by fitness coach Belinda of Pazzazz Me, followed by a  2.5K between 9.30am and 10.30am and a 5K between 9.45am and 10.30am. After your run you can take part in a fun dog show with The Hilt Community Centre and a sports  circuit led by Visosport.

Jess Marshall, Wessex Cancer Support’s events organiser, said: “Wessex Cancer Support provides invaluable wellbeing services in our local community and we know how much dogs can boost our mood, so the Dog Jog is a brilliant opportunity for people to come together with their canine companions for a bit of feel-good fun.

There are two distances, so the event is great for children and adults alike as well as dogs of all sizes. Fancy dress is optional, but highly encouraged for all participants, and we hope to raise lots of money to support local people affected by cancer.”

Entry fees start at £7.50 and Wessex Cancer Support asks all participants to raise a minimum of £100 in sponsorship which will help fund the personalised wellbeing support provided by the charity.
